A LOCAL COMPANY REALLY GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Letter to the Editor,

“Giving back” is a phrase that is thrown around with ease but seldom followed.   We have a local company, Marke’s Heating and Cooling, which is truly giving back to the community as a celebration of its 40 years in business.

The company is conducting an Internet voting contest where locals vote for their favorite charity group.  The charity with the most votes in any given month receives a check for $500. No one charity can win multiple months but the charity with the most accumulated votes at the end of the year receives a $500 check.

This generous program is the brainchild of Jack Davis, founder of Marke’s.    Not only does he give back to the community but he and Marke’s president, Tim Ferguson, have instilled that spirit in his employees.   Palmetto Animal League was honored to be the winner of September’s contest and recently visited Marke’s office to receive the check. Marke’s employees were present and attentively listened to us explain the mission of Palmetto Animal League and how we serve the community.   Questions were asked showing genuine interest in our organization. 

It was an inspiration to witness the generosity and caring of Marke’s Heating and Cooling.  We will keep the photo taken with Marke’s staff as a symbol of corporate generosity and compassion.

We also want to thank our supporters who have been voting every month for PAL.  We are striving for that end-of-the –year check!
